Don’t forget to file 1099’s

At the end of each year, companies in the United States are required to submit Forms 1099-MISC to the IRS. The deadline to file 1099-MISC to the IRS is January 31st. It is important to prepare and file the appropriate 1099s to the IRS before the deadline otherwise heavy penalties for late submissions or wrong information will be imposed.

How can AIM/Acumatica help?
If your company files 250 or more 1009-MISC forms for any calendar year, the IRS requires that you file the forms electronically. If fewer than 250 forms are filed, you can file them either electronically or by mailing paper documents.

In Acumatica ERP, you can use the Create E-File form to generate an electronic file that contains information on all 1099 vendors of the branches you select, including the payments that were made to them in the 1099 year you specify. You can generate a file of any of the available file types (for example, a correction file) by specifying the appropriate option on the form.

The boxes in the electronic file corresponding to the boxes on the paper Form 1099-MISC. The format of the electronic file generated in Acumatica ERP matches the file format required by the IRS.

After the system generates the file, you need to upload it to the IRS website by using the Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE) system.

Before eFiling, did you check the 1099 Amounts are Correct?
If the 1099 Amounts for your vendors are not correct, AIM can help! We developed a product that allows you to easily change the 1099 amounts for the vendors. Simply choose a vendor, the correct 1099 box and type in the correct amount. This will update the vendor record without any hassles.

How it Works:
AIM 1099YearBalances allows you to change the 1099 Amount to be reported to the IRS. Navigate to the 1099 Year Balances/Select Vendor/Select 1099 Year/Add Box Number/Change Amount. The 1099 Year Balances will only show Vendors that checked “1099 Vendor”, so no need to sort through hundreds of vendor records.
